Oman Air will join the Oneworld alliance

DOHA, Qatar — Oman Air will be the next member of the Oneworld alliance.

The carrier will also be the third Oneworld member in the Middle East, joining Qatar Airways and Royal Jordanian.  Oman Air is expected to formally join the alliance in 2024.

“It is through these partnerships that we will continue to grow and benefit our members,” Oneworld CEO Rob Gurney said during a Monday signing ceremony during the IATA Annual General Meeting.

Oman Air CEO Eng Abdulaziz Al Raisi joined Gurney at the ceremony. He said that Oman has set a goal of drawing 11 million annual tourists by 2030.

“I think joining the Oneworld alliance will help us bring more people to Oman,” he said.  Oman Air serves 41 destinations with a fleet containing Boeing 737s, Boeing 787s and Airbus A330s.  Oneworld currently has 13 members. U.S members are American Airlines and the most recent entrant, Alaska Airlines.

Russian carrier S7 was suspended from the alliance in April.
